First Amendment Gallery is pleased to announce Scott Albrecht as this week’s featured artist. Scott Albrecht is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York, currently exhibiting all around the United States. He focuses on meticulously sculpted and painted wood panels, along with some experience in wood collage and mural painting. Primarily working in wood, paper, collage and walls he focuses on a geometric style that is unique to his process.
“Scott Albrecht in his art finds the elegant tension between the bold and sublime. His abstraction and deconstruction of type forms combined with his sophisticated color theory and surface treatments yield artworks that are immediate, yet command a deeper and closer look.”- Shepard Fairey
Scott Albrecht was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and grew up largely on the East Coast attending art school in Philadelphia and graduating with a degree in Graphic Design. His graphic influence is very apparent is his work and shows his depth as an artist as he pushed himself to find more mediums to express himself creatively. He has been collected and exhibited throughout the world and continues to spread his exposure through dedicating himself to his craft and working to create as much quality work as possible. Scott Albrecht has been featured in a variety of magazines and blogs such as Juxtapoz, Amadeus Magazine and Vans, as an artist to watch as people are continuously intrigued by the subject matter and inspirations behind his mysterious work.
His inspiration stems from day to day interactions and the small and big moments he wishes to capture in his work. He quotes “I often see my process and final works as though I’m creating reminders or artifacts for myself of these ideas and situations, and have come to use this perspective as a guide in my work — to create something worth being reminded of.”
Scott Albrecht is also a member of the Gowanus Studio Space, a cooperative workspace in Brooklyn offering the space and resources for artists and designers to come together to create their best work.
First Amendment always aims to incorporate the street art style that it was founded on with the artists we exhibit so Scott Albrecht’s mural work is something that shows a new dimension and scale of the meticulous methods he uses to create such engaging pieces. Here are some images of some of our favorite wall pieces.
Scott Albrecht is part of our current show “Natural Plain” exhibiting three pieces of smaller scale and will have a solo exhibition with First Amendment Gallery this summer. Here is a closer look at his pieces currently on display at our gallery in downtown San Francisco. The show will be up through October 26th so make sure you come by and check out his captivating pieces in person.
