“This is better than our sky diving offsite!” WOW! We were so flattered when we overheard someone say that…

A team from Facebook wanted to celebrate the completion of one of their big projects. But being a leader in innovation and out of the box thinking, Facebook was looking for something different… something with a little bit of creativity, ingenuity, and something with a lot of awesomeness. With their cooler of drinks in tow, they headed to 1:AM to get down on the corner of 6th and Howard.

Nate1 and Robert Gonzalez, one of our in-house artists, took the team under their wings and showed them the way of the graffiti artist. Below are photos that capture the play-by-play of their day at 1:AM.

GRAFFITI LETTER STYLES, 1:AM STYLE

Back in December, we did a holiday party for a hi-tech marketing consulting firm called Stage Two Consulting. Since they were really into graffiti letter styles, team 1:AM, consisting of Roman and Robert, responded by whipping up (rather, laboring over… but they had fun doing it and that’s what matters right?) a couple of wooden canvases. They even borrowed San Francisco Art Institute’s wood shop room to make the canvases from scratch… measure, saw, sand, nail, repeat. Check out some of the art here:

RECAP OF “CIRCLE OF LIFE” OPENING

Last Friday, ArtNowSF and 1:AM gallery hosted the opening reception of “Circle of Life”. It was a great event with lots of beautiful people. Joey Gross, the founder and CEO of ArtNowSF, knows how to bring the illest artists together and how to throw a party.

If you missed the opening, no worries cuz the show is going to be up through January 30th, 2010. The art is priced very reasonably. Seriously, the artist stayed in the $150 – $300 range. And they make the perfect presents for any occasion.

“CIRCLE OF LIFE” @ 1:AM GALLERY THROUGH JANUARY 30TH, 2010!

MURALISTIC – FEAR HEADS COMPLETED!

As we mentioned last week, team 1:AM was in charge of creating Wonderland Show’s Fear Head on Golden Gate x Taylor. No one knew it was going to turn out as good as it did. The crew outdid themselves. Roman Cesario, Robert Gonzalez, and Mitsu Overstreet were the masterminds behind the operation and did an amazing job leading the team.

Since pictures speak louder than words, just look at the photos and you too will be in awe on what they accomplished on this 30′ x 45′ wall…in less than a week.

ETERNAL SLEEP OPENING RECEPTION

Friday, October 16th, 1:AM gallery celebrated our one year anniversary! The artists brought their A-game and filled the gallery with their imaginative interpretation of life and death. One of Shawn Griggs’ oil paintings depicted skull figures fishing, body boarding on a pier that seemed to be floating in the night sky while Lawrence Yang transformed his characters to have skulls with a story of absorption and Sesl commemorated Dia de los Muertos by painting a traditional life and death ceremony. This is just 3 out of the 50 amazing pieces we have at the gallery for the Eternal Sleep show.

The vibe was great at the opening reception. People enjoyed the art and each other’s company. Most of the contributing artists were on hand schmoozing, boozing and having fun.

IN AWE – DAY 4

Who would have thought that rainy season would come early? Weather has been on the fritz… rainy this morning and now blue skies and the sun is peeking out. But since the crew working on the wall knows what’s up, they planned ahead for the rain and are still ahead of Saturday’s deadline. Roman, Mitsu, Robert, and Mikey, you guys can do my walls any day. You are top notch pro-peshionals!

Here are pictures of Day 4 of the Wonderland’s “Fear Head” (or Day 5 since we lost a day to mother nature).

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY…

…come again… next week after Wonderland‘s opening this Saturday on October 17th so, Roman and the crew can finish their mural on Golden Gate x Taylor.

WHAT A WEEKEND (plus a Monday)! If you passed by “Fear Head” yesterday, you may have noticed that there was no one working on the wall because of the wind and the rain. The building is so tall that it was deemed unsafe to use the forklift to finish the top part of the mural. When I pass by it, I am proud of Roman and his crew because it looks good. And if you stop and actually listen and watch them do this (there is probably 5 people working on this monstrous 30x45ft wall), their teamwork is like a well oiled machine. The vibrant color gives a complete facelift to the busy and dismal street. I can’t wait to see the finished wall.
