The closing reception is this Friday, July 30th from 6:30 – 9:30pm. Due to the erotic nature of the show, this may not be suitable for people under 18 years old.

See you Friday! Be here.

“I wanna be a ‘street artist’ so frickin’ bad…buy all of the things I never had..” The glitz, the glamor, the fame: artists must have it all, but is that a true depiction of an artist’s day to day life? Last Friday, we hosted 10 students from F1rst Graduate (a non-profit in the Presidio) for their Career day. For those who don’t know, F1rst Graduate is an amazing organization that helps students become the first in their families to graduate from college. On their career day, the kids heard about the highs and lows of being an artist and a gallery owner, as seen through the eyes of resident artist and art director, Roman and gallery founder, Dan. After the discussion panel and a mural walk tour around SoMa, everyone got to practice their letterstyling. Future graff artists in the making? We think so!

Two weekends ago, we were really looking forward in starting a wall with the mighty MEAR ONE. But the heavens looked down upon us and decided to piss all over our big day. It was raining cats and dogs on Sunday and when Mear tried to spray the wall, it just kept running off. So, the wall has been postponed for a later date.

We did catch him at YBCA‘s Big Idea Night creating a live painting. He was able to paint this masterpiece in a couple of hours. The vibe that Mear was giving off was positive and the crowd was really feeling it. All we got to say is, DAMMMNNN, Mear One really knows how to throwdown.

Mear One painting his thoughts and ideas onto canvas

Mear One is going to be back real soon, just as soon as the clouds part and the rain stops. We’ll keep you posted when he returns to do the mural… We saw the sketch and love it! This one, like all of his work, will be amazing. Stay tuned…

As we mentioned in our previous post, Brian Goggin’s Operation Restore Defenestration opening was off the chain. At the end of the night, we even heard Roman, our Art Director, say that it was the best opening we have ever had. We don’t know if we will ever be able to top this one. Check out the fun and entertaining people that attended the event. Maybe if they continue to come to our future events, we will feel some of the magic that was in the air during Brian’s opening.
