1AM is proud to present “The Rusted Souls”, a concept art show that tells the story of humankind’s impending demise by the hands of technology. The story is well equipped with a near apocalyptic landscape, feudalism between man and machine, and the forever crux of spirituality vs. government. The illustrative narrators include Christopher de Leon, James Garcia, Jesse Hernandez, Dino Ignacio, Ivera Pennant, Karlo Santa Ana, Eve Skylar, Jeremy Sorrell, Emerson Tung and sound installation by Pu22l3. The opening reception is on Friday, April 13th, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30pm and will run through May 6th, 2012.
The exhibit is based on a proposed animated film. The storyline starts at a time in the not so distant future, where technology stops working for the benefit of mankind, and begins eliminating them. Humans and other living beings are now expendable, and if anyone or anything offers resistance, they are quarantined for re-training or simply deleted. Through this dark time, there are humans that have managed to hide or escape, and have created underground factions that aim to take back what the Machines have taken from them. One particular platoon, calling themselves, “T.R.S.”, short for “The Rusted Souls”, have evolved into a different state of consciousness. The 7 members possess extrasensory powers. Armed with only their telekinetic and telepathic powers, they attempt to lead humanity back from the darkness.
The participating artists created the visual element to this tale. Who will save the day? Will the robots enslave the makers? Is there hope for humankind? Only the artists’ painted interpretation can give answers. Join us at the opening reception of “The Rusted Souls” on Friday, April 13th and get a glimpse to our possible future.
