DAVID CHOE

In 2005, Facebook’s President at the time Sean Parker, hired artist David Choe to paint the original Facebook Headquarters in Palo Alto. Mr Choe was offered $60,000 for the commission but instead chose to take Facebook stocks. 7 years later it is now 2012 and the stocks he holds could potentially be worth over $200,000,000.

‘Nuff said!

Untitled by Vogue

Days go by and it still trips me out when I realize I’m not looking at a photo.

This is his only print of this design measuring 30″ x 40″
and it’s exactly to scale of his original artwork, of course entirely executed
exclusively in spraypaint…

One of the many dope pieces by one of the many dope artists
featured in our current show, PRINT!

Holla!

Los Angeles Mural Moratorium

For many years, Los Angeles has been home to some of the most innovative mural work, but that may no longer be true if the city’s crackdown on public art continues.

Changes to the city’s municipal code in the last decade mean that murals are now defined as signs. Obtaining permission to post legal signage in Los Angeles is a costly and time consuming process.  Due to this fact, the city has issued no new mural permits since 2007 and begun to remove unregistered public work.

City officials and police attempt to fine building owners who host murals and artwork that has not been approved by the city of Los Angeles. Private companies that specialize in graffiti removal have actually broken onto private property to remove art from public view. Art is not a crime, stop the madness!
