Street art often takes on many forms, including sculpture and 3 dimensional pieces. Sometimes these objects are large, and sometimes they move. When this is the case, objects can become actions. These actions can be described as “civil disobedience” because they often exist in a legal grey area, where there is a refusal to resist certain imposed laws or regulations and turn some heads while doing so. In an act of splendid civil disobedience, a group of Latvian activists made simple car frames out of bamboo and bicycled them through the cit of Riga. The action was meant to bring attention to sustainable urban mobility, bicycle safety, and question the use of cars to move (usually) only one person. The Latvian activist group, Let’s Bike It, organized the action as a part of the European Mobility Week to raise awareness. (story awareness from My Modern Met¬†and Colossal)
