We are pleased to announce that Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) is a fiscal sponsor for the project (and our next art exhibition opening March 5th) titled “Operation Restore Defenestration“. This project will be a chance for the SF community to come together once again, as they did back in 1997, to help restore the Defenestration building. BRAF is dedicated to inspiring art, community and civic participation and “Operation Restore Defenestration” is exactly that.
If you are not familiar with BRAF, we are sure that you have admired and appreciated many of their projects throughout the city. They have inspired and beautified our city through public art installations that provokes wonderment, appreciation, and brilliance. Here are some of the projects they have sponsored (all photos from BRAF’s website):
1. REBAR‘s Park(ing) Day 2007 and PARKcycle were recipient’s of BRAF’s Grants-to-Artist program.
By the way, we love REBAR, their art, their innovation, their love for the community.
3. BRAF’s latest project is titled “Ecstasy”, a collaboration with the Hayes Valley Arts Coalition to install a massive 30-feet metal sculpture by of Dan Das Mann and Karen Cusolito. It has taken residence at Patricia’s Green (@ Octavia x Hayes) from February 7, 2010 through June 18, 2010. The opening reception is on February 26th from 4 – 7pm (we’ll definitely be there!). Click here for more information about the “Ecstasy” project and artists.
In addition to their amazing art projects, they also have really cool events. Make sure you check their blog often to see what’s up.
THANK YOU BLACK ROCK ARTS FOUNDATION FOR SUPPORTING “OPERATION RESTORE DEFENESTRATION” AND PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS IN SAN FRANCISCO!
